Nexus welcomes its new chief executive officer, Claus Christensen, who has experience as both senior executive and full professor.

Claus Christensen will take over the position of chief executive officer from Viggo Norn, a scientist and entrepreneur who has led the company for over 25 years.

Palsgaard, a Danish-based ingredients manufacturer, produces vegetable-based emulsifiers and stabilizers, with the help of its sister company Nexus. It comprises a range of laboratories and functions to create solutions to serve end-users globally, and to provide emulsifier formulations for their customers. Mr Norn helped Palsgaard grow during his time, providing ingredients that met market needs.

“In my first job, I learned that chemistry can actually change the world. Over the years, this interest has more become a passion for developing innovative products and solutions than for chemistry itself,” said Mr Christensen. “We are going to cover a lot of new ground with our emulsifiers, beginning with our most recent move into polymers and developing this along with other entirely new business segments”.

Educated as a chemist, Mr Christensen has experience both as senior executive in technology enterprises, and as full professor in his academic career. He joined Palsgaard just as the company celebrated 100 years since its founder, Einar Schou, invented the modern commercial emulsifier. As new head of the company, he will focus on the company’s growth.

Birger Brix, group chief executive officer and chairman of the Schou Foundation, which owns both companies, said that the two companies form a collaboration in which research, development and innovation is conducted in separate, but closely related entities. “We’re proud to be able to attract talented people like Claus to our company—and that he wants to be part of a very exciting future, taking Nexus to the next levels as the group grows.”
