France-based Roquette, a manufacturer of plant-based ingredients, has completed the acquisition of Brazil-based Itacel, a provider of pharmaceutical excipients.

This acquisition is a move by the plant-based ingredients company to position itself as a major supplier to the pharmaceutical industry, focussing on natural-based pharmaceutical excipients solutions.

The plant-based ingredients company’s products and solutions are catered to the nutrition, food and pharmaceutical markets, with products made from plant-based raw materials such as corn, wheat, potatoes and peas.

The combination of the two businesses will contribute to the company’s strategic growth plan in the food, nutrition and health markets, and will create new opportunities for its customers.
