Abbott’s nutrition manufacturing facility in Singapore has been awarded the Shingo Prize, making it the first company in all of Asia to win the coveted prize. Presented by the Shingo Institute at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, the Shingo Prize recognises a manufacturing site’s journey to continually improve, and the path to winning the prize is one of the most rigorous in the world. It highlights plants that have a culture of excellence and have delivered sustainable results year after year.
Abbott’s Singapore facility was established in 2009. The site has grown to be the largest powder manufacturing plant in Abbott’s nutrition supply chain with volumes reaching a record-high of 128 million pounds of products such as Similac Mom, Similac, PediaSure and Ensure that serve customers in 48 countries worldwide.
Since 2010, the Singapore facility has introduced more than 99 new products, offering a wide-range of flavours and packages to meet the ever-changing needs of people everywhere.
Abbott’s nutrition facility in Singapore joins four other Abbott manufacturing sites in earning the Shingo Prize. Past Shingo Prize recipients include Abbott’s vascular manufacturing site in Clonmel, Ireland (2014), diagnostics manufacturing site in Longford, Ireland (2016), nutrition manufacturing facility in Sligo, Ireland (2017) and nutrition manufacturing facility in Granada, Spain (2018). These awards recognise Abbott’s commitment to excellence in manufacturing, innovation and producing high-quality products that help people all around the world live healthier, fuller lives.
